Medigap (Med-Supp) Plan Letter Guide

See what each standardized Medigap letter covers.

Medigap (Medicare Supplement) plans are standardized by letter. Plan G from Company A covers the same benefits as Plan G from Company B—premiums, discounts, and household rules differ. This tool compares letters, not carrier prices.

Medigap works with Original Medicare and does not include Part D drug coverage. Plans C and F are generally unavailable if you first became eligible in 2020 or later. High-deductible Plan F and high-deductible Plan G exist and are not in this chart. Plan N’s Part B coinsurance uses copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for emergency room visits. The emergency-room copay is waived if you are admitted. The federal chart is on Medicare.gov.

Massachusetts, Minnesota, and Wisconsin do not use this letter chart. If you live in one of those states, the standardized benefits below do not match what you can buy.

Focus the side-by-side

I became (or will become) eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020.
I want as few leftover medical bills as possible after Original Medicare pays.
I’m okay with Part B coinsurance copays of up to $20 for some office visits and up to $50 for an emergency room visit that does not lead to admission.
I worry about Part B excess charges (doctors who don’t accept assignment).
I want a Medigap plan with a yearly out-of-pocket maximum (Plan K or L style).
Limited foreign travel emergency coverage matters to me.
